Episode 102 - Angry Chicken Adobo
In this episode, DJ Joel cooks up Angry Chicken Adobo with rice. Adobo is a traditional Filipino dish that's got that dude-friendly combination of being absofreakinglutely delicious and easy to make.

Yup, chicks love it...

Joel also drops knowledge on making rice on the stove for all you guys who may not have a rice cooker handy. The Bite Me Girls get the blood flow pumping, as always, and we have a little friend to introduce at the very end of the episode. It's time for the MAN cooking show!

 

 
       

DJ Joel's Angry Chicken Adobo

5 pounds of chicken parts (thighs, drumsticks, breasts... you pick)
2 cups soy sauce
1 3/4 cups brown sugar
1 cup vinegar (palm, white or cider - white is stronger, cider milder)
12 cloves of garlic (peeled)
6 bay leaves
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cloves (or 6 whole cloves)
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
4 tablespoons Tapatio sauce (plus or minus depending on how hot you want the dish. Sriracha, Dave's Insanity Sauce or your favorite hot sauce will also work.)

Combine all ingredients in a large pot, then cook on stove for about 45 minutes on medium heat once it starts boiling. Stir occasionally. You want to see a moderate boil, not too hot. If you get crazy with the heat, then the vinegar will boil off and the chicken will end up way too salty. (The quick solution to that is to add more vinegar to the cooked chicken stock. Yeah, it's happend to us...)

For the rice, use your favorite white rice variety. Calrose, Jasmine, etc., etc...they'll all work. Pour 2 cups of rice into a pot, then rinse the rice several times until the water comes out close to clear. Pour in 3 cups of water, then heat it covered on the stove for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Serve the chicken on the rice. Try pouring some of the chicken stock over the dish, as the rice will soak up those yummy flavors and knock the panties right off of your date. (That is the goal, isn't it??)
